Today, the lawyer for the convicts AP Singh made a controversial statement and has questioned Nirbhaya’s character over the 2012 Delhi incident.

“Should I not ask her mother what the girl was doing with the boy so late at night? It is part of the evidence. I wasn’t saying they had a brother-sister relationship or they were out to celebrate rakhi. All I said was that they are friends. Now in their society, boyfriend-girlfriend relation must be praiseworthy, but not in the culture I come from,” Singh said.

Questioning supreme court

Previously, after Supreme Court dismissed the petition of death row convict Pawan Gupta against the rejection of his mercy plea by the President, AP Singh questioned the supreme court’s judgment.
“If the Court can’t put stay on Death punishment of these 4 innocent people, they should hang me too. I can’t live without them,” he said.

This is not the first time, Singh’s views had led to massive outrage in 2013 when he had openly attacked the judge in the courtroom, after losing the Saket court.

“You have not supported truth, but lies. This decision has been taken under political pressure and for vote-bank politics,” he had said.

Outside the court, he lashed out at the media and was criticized for his stupid remarks.

“If my daughter or sister engaged in pre-marital sex and disgraced herself and allowed herself to lose face and character by doing such things, I would most certainly take this sort of sister or daughter to my farmhouse, and in front of my entire family, I would put petrol on her and set her on fire,” he had said.
