The actress has also been roped in for Salman Khan’s upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan. The 32-year-old who is always seen in Tamil, Telugu, and Bollywood films, has suddenly taken the tone of praising the Kannada industry.
Discussing about original cinema, actress Pooja Hegde explains how Rishab Shetty Kantara was a rooted story for her. While speaking at the Gallata Plus Mega Roundtable 2022, the Beast actress said, “Speaking as an audience for the Kannada industry, as I originally belong from Mangalore, we want to be represented when you watch a film. You wanna see yourself and your culture. And a film like Kantara that depicts Bhoota Kola. These are the things that I have grown up watching. I myself have experienced the magic of this tradition. And seeing that on the big screen was Wooow!”
“It makes me happy that people will watch this and experience this magic. My whole family including my grandmother and mother wanted to go and watch Kantara and they don’t want to watch other films. This is something that makes me proud,” she adds.
Pooja Hegde’s statement comes as a surprise to many as she has never chosen to speak openly in her native language even if insisted. And now, the drama queen coming forward to support the Kannada industry, has become a hard pill to swallow.
