Pakistan Cricket Team announced its new head coach and its none other than the country’s own all-rounder Misbah-ul-Haq. Making his way into a new role for his country men’s cricket team, Misbah was named as head coach by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for three years tenure. Who said the Indian Cricket board goofed up with the head coach selection?, Pakistan is no far behind. Twitter just couldn’t stop laughing after the decision to appoint the former allrounder as the head coach.

Misbah as the new head coach

After the World Cup massacre, PCB did not renew the contract with Mickey Arthur as the head coach. The former captain was a front runner in the list of candidates for the role of head coach. “I know expectations are high, but I am absolutely ready and up for the task otherwise I would not have thrown my name in the hat for one of the most challenging and coveted roles in Pakistan cricket,” said Misbah.

Alongside Misbah-ul-Haq, the former Pakistani fast baller Waqar Younis will be joining the side as Pakistan’s new bowling coach. However, Misbah will take over as the chief selector of the national side as well.

“We have some of the most talented and exciting cricketers, and I will like to help them train and prepare in such a way that they can play intelligently, smartly and fearlessly. I am aware, this will require a change in the dressing room culture but if we have to compete consistently at the highest level, we have to embrace these modern-day requirements,” said the all-rounder.
