The next King

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s Liger is finally in theatres. Even though it was one of the most-awaited movies of the year, looks like it has left fans disappointed. Despite all this, the Telugu actor has high hopes that maybe in the future he will be the next superstar just like Shah Rukh Khan.

Recently, in an interview, the actor stated that he wishes to be the next superstar after Shah Rukh Khan. The Arjun Reddy star also revealed that SRK’s journey inspired him to become an actor.

In a conversation with GQ, he said, “I can’t tell you how much Shah Rukh Khan’s success drove me. It showed me in clear terms: If he could do it, why couldn’t I? You only need one successful person as a reference point.”

He remembered an old interview with the Bollywood superstar which inspired him. While talking to Anupam Kher on a chat show, SRK once said that he’s ‘the last star’. Talking about SRK’s statement, Vijay added, “When I saw his interview, I remember wanting to say, Shah Rukh, you’re wrong. You’re not the last. I’m coming.”

Deverakonda’s love for SRK

Vijay Deverakonda who made his debut on Karan Johar’s show spoke about how SRK, coming from Delhi, owned Mumbai like King and it left him inspired.

Vijay said, “When I was growing up, I saw Shah Rukh coming from Delhi or Chiranjeevi Garu, back home, coming from nothing. They gave you that glimmer of hope that this can be done. I think I need to do the same for my generation and the people that come after me because it does help and it does show you a way. So that’s what floats my boat.”

The 33-year-old actor has made it clear that he wants to take away the ‘King’ title from Shah Rukh. In his recent interaction with India Today reportedly he was asked one thing he wants to steal from Khan- he replied his ‘ King title’.
