BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.) said that six-coach trains would be put to public use in about two months. This has come in reference to BEML Ltd. Handling over the first intermediate car unit to BMRCL.
Things To Know about Six-Coach Metro Trains
- The introduction of six-car trains will double the passenger capacity compared to the present running with three cars.
- The first set of three cars has been handed over to BMRCL and it is for the east-west purple lines that run between Baiyappanahalli and Mysuru road.
- Mr.Hota, CMD, BEML, said that the cost of a coach has reduced from Rs.11.5 crore to Rs.8.9 crore. BEML has the capacity to make 30 cars a month as we can accommodate three lines with one for three cars.
- New coaches are integrated and made women-friendly with a prioritized entry and exit for women in the first two entrances of trains.
Bengaluru Developments minister K.J George said, “Namma Metro has become popular now with 4 lakh user a day and therefore the coaches have to go through security checks on a mandatory note. This would take a month or two. Once the first set of cars get clearance, the remaining ones will be integrated faster. “
Talking about the much awaited Sub-urban rail coach, K.J George said,
“ Project is getting closer to reality, It would be good if the center also shares the cost of land acquisition with the State Government.”
With the introduction of Six-coach Metro trains, it can be expected that the travel will be less crowded and more comfortable.
