Following the massive worldwide success of KGF Chapter 2, the film’s OTT right was sold to a leading digital platform for a massive amount.
KGF Chapter 2 on OTT
Released on April 14, the Yash-starrer movie has reached over the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide. With such a record, the makers of the movie have sealed another deal with an OTT platform.
According to the reports, KGF Chapter 2 OTT rights have been acquired by a popular OTT platform for a record amount which is reportedly estimated at around Rs 320 crores. The movie will reportedly begin streaming on the OTT platform from May 27 in all the five languages: Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. However, it is yet to be revealed which platform the second installation of this blockbuster movie will premier.
It is to be noted that KGF: Chapter 1 is already streaming on Amazon Prime. So the speculations say that the movie may be released on the same platform.
With the film finally proceeding on from the big screens to mini-screens, the fans are really fascinated at catching Rocky Bhai on the OTT platform to give it multiple viewings of their favorite sequences in the film.
KGF’s success
The Prasanth Neel directorial film has become the fourth Indian film to gross over 1000 crores globally. ‘KGF’ also holds the title of being the second “Hindi” film to achieve a box office record, according to trade experts Ramesh Bala and Taran Adarsh, who tweeted on Wednesday. The film has surpassed Aamir Khan’s 2016 sports movie Dangal’s lifetime box office collection of Rs 387.38 crore.
KGF: Chapter 2 is a sequel to the 2018 film KGF: Chapter 1. The action drama movie is based on the power dynamics at Kolar Gold Fields set in the 70s. Made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, KGF: Chapter 2 also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Archana Jois, and Prakash Raj in key roles. The movie also happens to be the costliest Kannada movie till now.
