A lesson for Bollywood

There is no doubt that Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 1 starring Yash has boosted the morale of the Kannada film industry and recently its second part KGF: Chapter 2 has made it even bigger.

Speaking on the same Ram Gopal Varma compared Bollywood with KGF 2 and Baahubali 2, and wrote on Twitter, “What do you think the Hindi film industry (aka Bollywood) will be thinking about how a Kannada dubbed film #KGF2 and a Telugu dubbed film #Bahubali2 are the biggest ever openers in the history of Hindi cinema ???”

“The MONSTER success of KGF 2 is a clear proof that if money is spent on MAKING and not wasted on STAR RENUMERATIONS bigger QUALITY and BIGGEST HITS will come. Forget Hindi film industry, not even Telugu and Tamil film industries ever took Kannada film industry seriously till KGF and now Prashanth Neel put it on the world map,” he writes.

Horror film

Explaining how Yash starrer has affected the mindset of Bollywood, the filmmaker said, “Like very much how Rocky Bhai comes to Mumbai to machine-gun the villains, Yash is literally machine-gunning all the Bollywood stars opening collections and its final collections will be a nuclear bomb thrown on Bollywood from Sandalwood. Prashanth Neel’s ‘KGF2’ is not just a gangster film but It’s also a HORROR film for the Bollywood industry and they will have nightmares about its success for years to come.”

KGF Chapter 2 Hindi version continues to be the biggest contributor to the film’s ongoing commercial triumph. Although Day 2 saw a slight dip comparatively, the latest trade reports suggest that Yash starrer (Hindi) is well on course for an Rs. 40-45 crore nett outing at the box office to take the two-day nett collection closer to Rs. 100 crore.
