Karnataka State Awards: Raghavendra Rajkumar & Meghana Raj Take Away Top Honours; Here’s the Full List

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday announced the Karnataka State Award for 2018. The award is given every year on April 24 but due to the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the last two years, the awards were not given on this day.

Raghavendra Rajkumar and Meghana Raj have been awarded the 2018 Karnataka State Film Awards in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. They are among the 31 film award winners announced by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday.

The First Best Film went to Aa Karala Ratri directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. Ramana Savari and Ondalla Eradalla bagged the Second Best and Third Best film awards.

Dayal’s Aa Karaala Ratri, Yash-starrer KGF and Tulu movie Deyi Baidethi bagged two awards each.

Apart from the awards for films made in 2018, the three-lifetime achievement awards were also announced. The Rajkumar Award for lifetime achievement will be given to veteran actor Srinivas Murthy and the Puttanna Kanagal Award for lifetime achievement of a director went to P Sheshadri. The Vishnuvardhan Award for lifetime contribution was announced for BS Basavaraju.

The State Film Awards are to be given away on April 24 every year which is the birthday of the late thespian Rajkumar.
