After the murder of a BJP Yuva Morcha member in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has warned to bring Uttar Pradesh’s ‘Yogi Model’ to Karnataka.
Hate Killing
A 32-year-old worker of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, was killed in the communally sensitive Dakshina Kannada district of coastal Karnataka on Tuesday night. Following the incident, several BJP workers expressed their anger at the state government and the party’s leaders by targeting the vehicle of its state president and submitting their resignations.
Ten people have been caught in connection with the murder. Section 144 has been imposed in Bellare town of Sullia, and Puttur taluk. All shops have been closed, and there would not be any vehicle movements in these areas.
The victim, Praveen Nettaru, was heading home after closing his shop at Akshaya Poultry Farm late Tuesday evening when the unknown assailants hacked him to death, police said. As soon as he was attacked, he tried to escape and ran but he fell down after a blow on his head, police said.
Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai in a late-night address to the media on Wednesday said that the culprits involved in the killing of state BJP Yuva morcha worker Praveen Nettaru will be caught soon. Stating that no such elements will be spared, the chief minister also said that if a situation like this carry out again he will be forced to bring Uttar Pradesh’s ‘Yogi Model’ to the state.
“If the situation arises, we will also have Yogi Adityanath model in Karnataka,” he said.
Specially trained commando
The chief minister also announced that the government has decided to raise a specially trained commando force in the state to eliminate anti-national and terrorist forces. The details of it will be announced after discussion with officials.
“There is anger in our hearts following this killing. This incident within a few months after Harsha’s (Bajarang Dal activists) murder in Shivamogga has pained me,” CM Bommai said.
“My government completes one year and it is three years of the BJP rule after coming to power under B S Yediyurappa. We had planned for Janotsava but after looking at the pain of the victim’s mother and family, I have decided to cancel tomorrow’s events,” he added.
