Kanpur Shootout: Catch Them Alive, Expose Govt Nexus With Criminals, Says Akhilesh Yadav

Post the killing of 8 policemen in Kanpur on Thursday night, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Uttar Pradesh government of covering up a nexus involved in the shootout.

At least 8 police officers of Uttar Pradesh Police were killed in an encounter with the criminals in Kanpur on Friday. A superintendent of police was also killed in the incident. The police team was approaching nab Vikas Dubey, who has been charged in over 60 criminal cases which later broke out into an encounter. The encounter took place in Dikru village which comes under Chaubeypur police station.

Reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government in a tweet. He tweeted in Hindi that read,

“The government, scared of getting unmasked is engaging in drama of showing minor encounters in a hurried manner instead of arresting the main criminal.”

In an earlier tweet, he had demanded the accused to be caught alive which would expose the State government’s alleged nexus with the criminals. He said,

“In this most shameful incident in the criminal history of Uttar Pradesh, dutiful police personnel had to pay the price of the collusion between the ‘sattadhari’ and ‘apradhi’.”

Rahul Gandhi Attacks UP Govt

Earlier today, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government. Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to attack the Uttar Pradesh government. He wrote a tweet in Hindi which read,

“Another proof of ‘Gundaraj’ in Uttar Pradesh. When the police are not safe, how will the public be? My heartfelt condolences are with the families of the slain martyrs and I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

Rahul Gandhi’s sister and another Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also highlighted that four members of a family in Prayagraj and said that it is unusual for criminals to rule in such a way in the state. She also demanded accountability from the government.

As per the reports coming in, the Uttar Pradesh police has eliminated two criminals who were involved in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur on Thursday night.

The Uttar Pradesh police confirmed the news that two of the men who were allegedly involved in the last night’s encounter have been eliminated.
