Karnataka To Have Its First Kannada-Medium Commerce & Science Pre-University College In Mysuru

The Kannada-medium students will now be able to continue their education even after completing school during their tenure in pre-university college.

The good news is that the first Kannada medium science and Commerce Pre-University College will start at Ramakrishna Nagar in Mysuru City on May 19. Former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will be inaugurating the college.

College To Encourage Kannada Medium Students

The Kannada medium  PU college is an initiative by the Kannada Vikasa Shaikshanika Samajika Samskrutika Samsthe. It also runs the Nrupatunga Kannada School in Mysuru.

The President of Samsthe and Social Activity, P.Mallesh while speaking to presspersons said that the college has been set up with the intention to encourage the students of Kannada medium to take up Commerce and Science stream.

At present, many of the students from Kannada medium do not take these streams because they lack proficiency in the English language. The Samasthe President further added that studying in mother tongue is always more effective.

In this college in Mysuru, the medium of instruction for students studying Science subjects such as chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and computer science will be Kannada.  

As a part of the university’s curriculum, the students will be attending Functional English class and will be familiarized with English terms.

College Has Well-Equipped Classrooms, Laboratories

This Kannada-medium PU college in Mysuru has well-equipped classrooms as well as fully-fledged laboratories that also includes computer lab having 40 computers. Retired Principal of D. Bhanumaiah’s College Dr. Bhadrappa S. Henley will serve as the Principal of the College.

The College will have support from retired and serving academicians and they are ready to offer service without any remuneration. The PU with the three-story building has already received applications from five students for getting admission.

While giving information about the college, Henley said that the College is offering Science course at Rs.10,000 and Commerce Course at  Rs.8000.

The college will be offering free education to 10 deserving students every year. The Kannada-medium PU College already has received backing from the State PU Education Board. The Board will be releasing translated textbooks for all Science subjects except Computer Science to the market.

The College experts have already started translating the computer textbook so that they are available to the student at the start of the session.   

He further said that State PU Education Board has already decided to release translated textbooks for all Science subjects, except Computer Science to the market and College experts have taken up the translation of the computer textbook to supply to students.
