Biopic film is a new genre in Indian cinema, it is not a new thing to Cinephiles who watch biopics across languages. The life stories of people have inspired a lot of its audiences and have gathered more attention and increased the footfalls over the years in cinema halls.
Real events can be educational as much as fictional stories. It’s been quite some time since the Kannada film industry has done an impactful biopic movie. Most of the best movies of Indian cinema which we’ve seen in the recent past are based on real stories, a representation of real characters and events.
Let’s take a look at the possible biopic movies which can be done in Kannada Film Industry.
1) Dr. Rajkumar Biopic
Dr. Rajkumar is a legend in the history of Kannada Film fraternity. He was popularly known as ‘Annavru’ and he has acted in more than 200 Kannada movies. His acting skills fetched numerous awards, which included the prestigious Padma Bhushana, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and Karnataka Ratna Award.
Rajkumar was also a noted singer and had even won a National Award for Singing. We feel Dr. Raj’s career is a perfect biopic and it’ll be a sure shot blockbuster.
2) Puttanna Kanagal Biopic
Puttanna Kanagal was one of the prominent Kannada film directors. Although the majority of his films were on offbeat or taboo subjects, he endeared himself to both the critics and audience. By showcasing his real life and movie making stories on a big screen would definitely inspire a lot of people to achieve big in life.
3) Kalpana Biopic
Kalpana was called as the queen of Kannada film industry who was known for her versatile roles in Sandalwood. She was affectionately referred to as ‘Minugu Taare’ among the Kannada movie lovers. Kalpana was widely recognized as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Kannada cinema who enjoyed both fan following and critical acclamation showering upon her film after films.
The actress, who was unsuccessful in her personal life, committed suicide in 1979. The rise and fall of a star would be a roller coaster emotional journey for sure and it’ll be a great tribute to the queen of our cinemas.
4) Dr. Veerendra Heggade Biopic
Biopic of Shri Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala is a must because he is a well-known visionary of our times.
Ever since he took charge of Dharmasthala, he is guiding the multitude of devotees visiting the temple and seeking the solace for their pains with his wisdom and helping them to face the world. Also, he has modernized the temple and its administration to help the devotees.
5) Sandeep Unnikrishnan Biopic
One of the Greatest and bravest sons of India, the name is Sandeep Unnikrishnan. He is one who gave life for the country and just by hearing his name we all will get Goosebumps.
Sandeep Unnikrishnan was an officer in the Indian Army serving in the elite Special Action Group of the National Security Guards. He was martyred in an action during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. A tribute to the martyred soldier would be a great gesture from our cine world.

The gem of Kannada cinema, the pride of Kannada film fraternity is Nagarakatte Shankara, popularly known as Shankar Nag. The actor, director who took Kannada cinema to pan India is none other than Shankar Nag. His statues are everywhere in Karnataka and he is one of the most loved superstars of Sandalwood.
Shankar Nag died on the morning of 30th September 1990 in a car crash near Anagodu village, it’s the outskirts of Davanagere town. Every Kannada movie buff would love to see Shankar nag Biopic.
7) Rahul Dravid Biopic
In the recent past helming biopics of sportspersons have served the film industry well.
All 90s kid used to idolize Sachin Tendulkar or Sourav Ganguly. But there was one Cricketer who would quietly play and always help India in all the matches. He was known for his composure and calm.

8) Narayana Murthy Biopic
We are sure, if a biopic on Narayan Murthy is made, it will be an undisputable movie. Because he is an Inspiring businessman. He was born in a middle-class family to N Rama Rao and Padvathamma Murthy and he is married to Sudha Murthy.
He is famous as a co-founder of India’s one of the biggest IT company ‘Infosys’. Murthi has also been honored with India’s most prestigious awards Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Shri awards (2000).
9) Sir M. Vishvehsvaraya Biopic
It is hard to gauge just how much of an impact Sir MV ultimately had on Karnataka state. Moviegoers are increasingly choosing to watch aspirational stories of real people over fantastical and over-the-top dramas, Sir MV Biopic will boost a lot of people’ life.
He was born on September 15, 1860, in Muddenahalli village in Karnataka’s Kolar district. Known for his simplicity and excellence, he was appointed as the Dewan by the Maharaja of Mysore in 1912 & He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his service to the nation. September 15 is celebrated as Engineers day, in his loving memory. Sir MV was recognized for engineering the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam located in Mysore.
10) Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar Biopic
KFI Definitely needs a historical biopic and we feel a biopic on Chikka Deva Raja Wodeyar would start a trend. He was the Wodeyar ruler of Mysore, ruled the state of Mysore from 1673 to 1704. During this time, Mysore saw significant expansion and also a recognition by the Mughal Empire as a tributary state in the Southern part of India. During the rule of Chikka Deva Raja Wodeyar, the centralized military power increased to an unprecedented degree for the region.
11) Tejaswi Biopic
Poorna Chandra Tejaswi, son of Kuvempu is one of the greatest laureates the Karnataka has seen. Bypassing the credit of being Kuvempu’s son, Tejaswi has managed to print his own stature in the literary space. Not just as a writer, the very life of Tejaswi is a book that every youngster can read and inspire from.
He was an agriculturist, wild-life photographer, social activist, painter and one of the most loved writers of Kannada. It will be interesting to see his life on screen and cinematically experience the magical world of Tejaswi.
