Jai Hind: Two Jaish-e-Mohammad Terrorists Killed in Pulwama

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Pulwama district on June 2nd. The encounter took place in the Awantipore tral in the South Kashmir district. As per the reports, there was no collateral damage.

According to Greater Kashmir, the operation was launched jointly by a team of police, the Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force. The operation had inputs they received on June 1st from the area about the presence of the militants. Reportedly, the Army repeatedly made announcements for the terrorists to surrender.

On the morning of June 2nd, when the security forces tightened their control over the region where the terrorists were hiding, the terrorist opened fire at the security forces and the gunfight broke out in which both of them were killed. The Army, in a statement given early in the morning, said,

“Join operation launched on June 2nd on specific intel. Announcements made for militants to surrender. Firefight ensued. One militant killed. Operation in progress.”

This comes a day after the Army had killed three suspected militants in a counter-infiltration operation that was launched on the 28th of May. This operation happened along the Line of Control in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The group had infiltrated the region in their attempt to cross into the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir but were stopped by the security forces near the Kalak village.

A Rise in terror attacks in two months

There has been a rise in terror attacks in Kashmir valley in the last two months. As late as last week, the security forces claimed that they averted a major bomb blast after they detected a vehicle that was carrying a 40 kg of explosives. In the last two months, the security forces have lost at least 30 personnel and 38 militants have been killed by the security forces.

On the 6th of May, Indian security forces killed Hizbul Mujahideen most sought after commander Riyaz Naikoo. Naiko has been claimed to have been the mastermind behind the revival of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in Jammu and Kashmir. He was killed in the Beighpora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
