Ravi Shastri retains his spot as the Head Coach of the Indian International team. Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) headed by Kapil Dev along with him Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Ranga Swamy, announced the decision at a press conference at 6:20 pm. The panel took the interview on Friday for the shortlisted candidates which included Ravi Shastri, Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Phil Simmons, Lalchand Rajput, and Robin Singh.
Ravi Shastri retains the Spot as India’s Head Coach
Ravi Shastri who was a front runner in this process was expected to make his presentation at around 5 pm just one hour before the panel declared the name. However, Mike Hesson, the former Kiwi coach, stood 2nd in the race just after Ravi Shastri. And Tom Moody was placed 3rd in the race for team India’s head coach.
Shastri who was already backed by Virat Kohli was one of the favorites since the selection process was even announced. It was under his coaching team India performed well in ODIs in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The men in Blue also topped the table in the 2019 World Cup. the number one Test team in the world also went on beating Australia in their home soil under Shastri as the head coach. These are the major points considered by the selection panel which helped Shastri retain his spot as India’s head coach.
