Finally, India gets to play its first game in the World Cup after a long wait. Kohli, and co. started off the tour with a style by thumping Proteas with a 6 wicket win. Indeed, they showed an excellent performance with both bat and ball resulting in a whole game dominance by the Asian giant. Thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 122 of 144 balls, helping India start its world cup campaign with a win against a good team like South Africa.
India draws the first blood in the tournament
Earlier at the toss, South African skipper Faf Du Plessis had won the toss and elected to bat on what had then appeared to be a batting paradise. Meanwhile, the dark clouds wondering above the Rose Bowl stadium, Southampton, which gave an edge to the Indian bowlers special Jasprit Bumrah. He was able to send South African openers back to the Pavillion before they could settle down and contribute to the score.
Spinners, on the other hand, the Kul-Cha duo were able to restrict the run flow in the middle over. The Indian spinners took the game from there on, Yuzvendra Chahal especially was tough to read and picked 4 wickets destroying his opposition’s middle order.
South Africa managed to score only 227 on the board, in which Chris Morris scored a quick 42 of 31 balls with the help of Phehlukwayo and Rabada who were with him building a partnership.
While, into the chase, Rohit Sharma and Shikar Dhawan came into bat, starting off, where Dhawan was caught by De Kock from a swinging ball by Rabada. ON the other hand, Rohit Sharma, after getting lucky at least 3 times in his innings, held one end and scored a century to get India home in the 48th over. KL Rahul and MS Dhoni also came in with important knocks to support Rohit to taking India home in their first match.
