India Gets World’s Highest Movie Theatre In Ladakh-See Pics

 Even though the cinema franchise and theatres have received a huge blow this year due to the global pandemic.But there is something which they can be actually proud of! A new theatre opens up in the altitudes of Ladakh making it world’s highest movie theatre at a height of 11,562 feet.This theatre at such a great height and specifically in Ladakh will ensure the future of Indian cinema at such remote areas.

Ladakh Gets Its First Roving Theatre

In an attempt to bring cinema watching experience to remote areas, Ladakh got its first roving cinema with a private company installing an inflatable theatre in the union  territory


Picture Time Digiplex has installed the inflatable theatre in Leh. According to Digiplex, the mobile theatre is situated at an altitude of 11,562 feet.The Leh theatre is said to be the highest altitude cinema theatre in the world.

Pankaj Tripathi Inaugurates The Theatre

This theatre is an inflatable theatre which was installed at the NSD Grounds in Leh and the chief guest for the event was Ladakh Buddhist Association president Thupstan Chewang and actor Pankaj Tripathi was the guest of honour.

Akshay Kumar film Bell Bottom was the first movie played in this hall and received huge applause from the spectators.Actor Pankaj Tripathi said installing cinemas in Ladakh was a beautiful initiative.”For someone like me who belongs to the film world, this comes across as such a unique and different means of film exhibition. Having a concept like this, that too in a gorgeous location such as Leh, is incredible”,he added.


This theatre offers affordable tickets and has several other facilities,the seating arrangement facility is also good states Mepham Otsal from National School of Drama.At the same time short films and other critically acclaimed movies are set to be telecasted in the near future at this theatre.
