Bengaluru will soon have its first-ever double-decker road-cum-rail flyover. It consists of two lanes of road flyover (first level) and Metro rail flyover (second level). The flyover is said to be 3.2 km and it will be connecting Ragigudda and Central Silk Board.
First double-decker flyover
This double-decker flyover which is replacing the Jayadeva flyover has tall pillars, which carry spans of the metro line on top and a road carriageway in the middle.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has completed the launching and fixing of wings of the first span of road level flyover making it a full 20m wide road section on the reach 5 lines of phase 2 of BMRCL is being constructed from RV road to Bommansandra.
The officials believe that the most difficult task of the double-decker flyover was launching and fixing wings to the spine portion of the road flyover.
A part of Namma Metro Phase 2
The work on the project is only 40% completed, the 2.5 km of Metro rail span and 0.8 km road level central spine is yet to be erected.
In a statement released, BMRCL has said, “Apart from the elevated flyover, three lanes, bothe side at grade road, will also exist.”
The Metro Line which is being built under Namma Metro Phase 2, will come with a length of about 19km and 16 stations will connect the IT corridors in the southern part of the city, and it is expected to decongest the busy Hosur road.
