
On Saturday, the Karnataka government issued fresh guidelines for temple reopening. The government said that only Darshan will be allowed at A, B, and C category temples. The other sevas and fairs will be temporarily banned until further orders.
The standard procedure for reopening temples in Karnataka is as follows:
- People above the age of 65 and below the age of 10 and also pregnant women are advised to not come out of the home until further orders by the state government.
- All the 34,000 temples that come under the Murzai department will be opened in the state.
- The government also advised the temples to maintain extreme hygiene and cleanliness at the premises and even at the entrance.
- The devotees who enter the temple must be checked for body temperature using an infrared thermometer.
- Hand sanitizer should be compulsorily used while entering the premises.
- The footwear of the devotees should not be allowed on the premises and are requested to leave at their vehicle or at separate places.
- The government has also advised people not to touch surfaces like walls, pillars, statues, and chariots inside the temple.
- All the devotees should have installed the Arogya Setu application. This also applies to the temple staff.
- The government has also advised the temple administration to put up the guidelines at the entrance and around the temple.
Tirupati to Open on June 8th
The Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam also got a nod by the government to open its doors for the devotees. It is all set to open from the 8th of June after 80 days of shutting down. The TTD Board Chief and the Executive Officer along with the Additional Executive officer briefed the press about the arrangements and measures incorporated by the administration for the reopening of the temple.

Here are the guidelines issued by TTD
- The Darshan every day will take place between 6.30 am and 7.30 pm and only 500 pilgrims allowed for each hour.
- A trial darshan will take place on the 6th and 7th of June by the staff of TTD and their families.
- As per the government of India guidelines, people above the age of 65 and below the age of 10 are not allowed for darshan.
- On June 10, time slot token will be issued at the Time slot token counters.
- The online booking begins from June 8th and from June 11th, 3000 tickets of Rs. 300 darshan will be issued.
- The VIP break darshan will commence every day between 6.30 am and 7.30 am to those who are self protocol VIPs.
- To ensure the safety of pilgrims, only the Alipri walker’s path will remain open from 6 am to 4 pm.
- As per COVID-19 guidelines, no theertham and shatari will be given.
- Herbal hand sanitizers will be provided to the devotees.
- Every devotee will undergo thermal scanning, vehicle scanning, and hand sanitization at the Alipri toll gate.
- Accommodation will be in odd-even mode.
