Prithvi Pankaj Shaw was born on November 9, 1999, in Vihar of Maharastra.
Kickstart of Cricketing Career
Prithvi Shaw’s cricketing career kick started when he was offered a contract by AAP Entertainment in 2010. Owing to this, he moved to Mumbai with his family to pursue his cricketing education.
546 Runs off 330 balls
It was 2013 and Shaw was playing for Rizvi in a Harris Shield match. He smashed 546 runs off 330 balls leaving everyone in awe. It was the highest score by an Indian in an organized cricket until Pranav Dhanawade hit 1000*.
1000 runs in England
Shaw’s cricket prowess continued in England too when he was present in Manchester in April 2012. He played exceptional innings for Cheadle Hulme School with a total of 1000 runs in that tour. In 2014, he even played for Cleethorpes in the Yorkshire ECB Country Premier League.
Second Youngest to Score a Century for Mumbai
It was 2016/17, Prithvi Shaw made his first-class debut in Ranji Trophy playing for Mumbai in a semi-final against Tamil Nadu. In a match played in Rajkot, Shaw scored a century in 4th innings to become the second youngest to score a century for Mumbai.
One interesting thing here is that Prithvi Shaw was just 17 years when he scored his maiden ton. Later on, he smashed a fifty in the final against Gujarat to become the youngest to score a fifty in the Ranjit trophy final.
Youngest Centurion in a Duleep Trophy Final
Shaw holds a record of being the youngest to score a century in Duleep trophy final. He was 17 years and 320 days when he smashed 154 for India Red against India Blue.
Winning Captain of U-19 World Cup
Prithvi Shaw has also led the U-19 Indian team to win the World Cup title in 2018. In the series, Shaw became the second highest run-getter. He scored 261 runs in five innings with an average of 65.25.
Prithvi Shaw in IPL
Prithvi’s entry to IPL happened when he was bought by Delhi Daredevils. He became the youngest to open the batting in an IPL game. He was just 18 years when he made his debut for DD against KXIP.
Prithvi Shaw shares a record with Sanju Samson for being the youngest player to score an IPL fifty. He achieved this knock in a match played against the KKR team.
First Class Career Record
Prithvi Shaw’s first-class career is only of 14 matches. He has at least one century in all the four innings in first-class cricket so far with a total of 7 centuries. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian player to have hit 9 centuries before turning 19.
Maiden Test Century
Today, on October 4, 2018, Shaw became the second youngest Indian to open the innings on Test debut only after Vijay Mehra, who debuted at 17. Above all, Shaw has hit a debut test century to become the youngest Indian to do so.
