DK Shivakumar’s remarks over the third wave are startling!

In a recent interview with the Times of India, the President of Karnataka Congress, DK Shivakumar has said that the current surge in the cases is a manipulation done by the ruling Govt. He said this in the backdrop of the Karnataka Congress undertaking a 10-day Padayatra towards the Mekedatu project.

“Where is COVID, there is no COVID. The Govt is manipulating the numbers to create a scare among the public to scuttle our padayatra” he said. “Mekedatu project will provide water to about 2.5 crore people of Karnataka and this padayatra will help us put pressure on the Centre and State Govt to make it a reality for the people if the Govt is stopping us but putting a curfew in place, they are playing politics.”, he further added.

DK Shivakumar has also added that Congress has been conducting reality checks across different districts and it is clear that the ruling Govt faking numbers and deaths as well. He also pointed out there have been no cases in ICUs across Bengaluru, he said that shortly he will hold a press conference about the same. He questioned the Govt as to why they allowed the oath-taking ceremony of the MLCs in the Vidhana Soudha with all its supporters when the cases were on the rise?

He further added that Congress at the national level has canceled events across different states as those were political events and this padayatra is a non-political event and is done in the favor of the people. He said he and Siddaramaiah will go on the first day and they have asked the workers of the party to not join them but if they wish to do so, they cannot be stopped. He reiterated, “If Govt wants to arrest of all us, let them!”.

He also pointed out that this should not be taken as a move for the elections because not one but all kinds of people will benefit from the water. Congress also has plans to launch the same for Mahadayi and Krishna Projects in North Karnataka.
