During the ‘Vikram’ audio launch event at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Pa Ranjith confirmed a project with Kamal Haasan and even went on to give some details as well.
Pa Ranjith’s next project with Kamal Haasan
Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ trailer was launched on May 15. Many Tamil film fraternities including directors, actors, and producers attended the audio launch. Apart from the crew of ‘Vikram’, the event was graced by Udayanidhi Stalin, Simbu, and Pa Ranjith.
Speaking at the launch event, director Pa Ranjith reportedly revealed that he wished to make a rural-based film with actor Kamal Haasan as the lead. He added that it will soon happen. He also said that ‘Virumaandi’ is his favorite film and that he might even try to show Kamal Haasan’s role that is suited up for a Madurai-based rural film.
“I wish to make a Madurai-based film with Kamal Haasan in the lead. I am soon going to make a film with him, and Virumaandi is my personal favorite,” said Ranjith while speaking on stage at the event.
Madurai-based films
While Madurai films are generally known for their rural setup with the actors donning the traditional veshti-sattai, Ranjith said, “It is not just the veshti-sattai Kamal that I’d be writing, it could also be a suited-up version.”
‘Vikram’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and staring Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil is set to release worldwide on June 3rd. Ranjith meanwhile is in the postproduction works of his romance film ‘Natchathiram Nagargirathu’ starring Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan.
