“CM could not keep his word”: DKS on Appu not receiving the Padma Shri

Recently on the eve of Republic Day, Padma awards were announced and Puneeth Rajkumar’s name was not on the list. The idea came into the picture as the CM of Karnataka, post the death of Puneeth Rajkumar announced that he will recommend the name of Appu for the Padma Awards. “There are rules on when and people from which sectors should be recommended for Padma awards, it will be in a way a unanimous recommendation for Puneeth Rajkumar. As a government considering everything, we will make a decision.” the CM said.

Apart from him, the Minister of Agriculture, BC Patil, and the Minister of Tourism, Anand Singh also backed the same. The opposition leaders also supported this cause. This statement was widely hailed as the people of Karnataka backed this and wanted Appu to be awarded the Padma Shri.

But now in 2022 when the awardees have been announced, the name of Puneeth Rajkumar does not seem to appear on the list. His fans have expressed their disappointment on the same through the internet.

In a press conference, on a question asked by the media, Congress leader DK Shivakumar has expressed his disappointment and said that “the CM could not keep his word”. He also hinted at various other things at the conference that he did not want to comment on.
