Afghanistan is now a free country for the Taliban to finally seize total control over its population and rule as they wish to. As the days are passing by; the true colours of Taliban are unravelled as today they come up with a statement which will surely prove bitter to Indian diplomacy and security considering the present situation. Taliban officials announced that China will be their “most important partner” in rebuilding the war-ravaged Afghanistan.
China Will Be Taliban’s Priority
The new rulers in Kabul have said that they look to Beijing to rebuild the land-locked country and use its rich copper deposits amid fear of widespread hunger and an economic collapse.
Taliban support China’s One Belt, One Road initiative that seeks to link China with Africa, Asia and Europe through an enormous network of ports, railways, roads and industrial parks, said Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.
“China is our most important partner and represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us because it is ready to invest and rebuild our country,” Mujahid was quoted as saying by an international media.
China Already Eying For An Opportunity
Earlier the days it was China who had first unveiled their intention on supporting the militant group after it strengthened its position on August 15, and days after its statements Taliban has responded in an assertive manner. Well, more or less sems a conspiracy built earlier, but just disclosed on a fine day.
Mujahid said that there are rich copper mines in the country, which can be put back into operation and modernised. “In addition, China is our pass to markets all over the world,” he added.
China has also expressed hope that Taliban will follow moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies, combat all forms of terrorist forces, and live up to the aspiration of its own people and the international community. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin recently said that China respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty and will not interfere and follow the friendship with “the entire Afghan people”.
The situation which was tagged as the worst human catastrophe by the UN, is something acknowledged by the world; but China seems to not care about anything and strengthen its dream of expanding over the world. Well, not a good sign for India !
