There was an ongoing dispute between Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and President Donald Trump considering trump criticizing the city for its Violent crimes. Over the time, it has encroached to other issues as well. In this context, now the News is that Chicago announced Trump-Free Zone by banning Trump.
If we take a look at the President’s Yesterday announcement, we come to know that US has decided to terminate the much supported DACA immigration program. In this frame of reference, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel held a press conference where he announced the ban of Donald Trump and thus comforted “Dreamers” in his city. This isn’t an official ban but he declared Chicago a “Trump-Free Zone”.
Quoting Mr.Rahm Emmanuel,
“To all the dreamers who are here in this room and in the city of Chicago, you are welcomed in the city of Chicago,”
Emmanuel emphatically stated. “This is your home and you have nothing to worry about. Chicago, our schools, our neighborhoods, our city, as it related to what President Trump said, will be a ‘Trump-free zone’.”
What is Trump Free Zone?
The term “Trump Free Zone” pronounce the fact that Trump’s intention to demotivate “Dreamers” will not be entertained in the city. This is a bold move by Chicago but practically they have no chance to constitutionally keep Trump out of the city.
Mr. Rahm Emmanuel continues,
“You have nothing to worry about,” Emmanuel continued. “I want you to know this and I want your families to know this, and rest assured, I want you to come to school, but more than just come to school, pursue your dreams.”
Emmanuel also made a point about free community college program where anyone with B-average in High School is eligible to attend community college free of charge. He emphasized that this program is “open to dreamers”.
It is surprising for many about Republicans agreeing with Trump’s ideologies on immigration. Emmanuel’s decision has been upvoted by many and if we look at George H.W Bush and Ronald Reagan, they too had the thoughts similar to Emmanuel. Immigration has played an important role in the welfare of US and it has also been a part of GOP’s plan to create an open atmosphere in the nation.
