American television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel called RRR a ‘Bollywood movie’ at the Oscars. Here’s how the internet has reacted to the same.
Calling RRR a ‘Bollywood movie’
SS Rajamouli’s RRR made history today by winning the Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards. During the opening address, host Jimmy Kimmel called RRR a Bollywood film. The slip-up drew a lot of reactions. Fans took to Twitter to slam Jimmy Kimmel for the goof-up and voiced their disappointment. It is to be noted that SS Rajamouli had earlier emphasized that RRR is a Telugu film and not a Bollywood film.
As Jimmy announced the first award category, he was seen driven away by the dancers who performed Naatu Naatu on stage. Jimmy said, “This year we are not gonna play you off stage instead we have a group of performers from the movie RRR who are going to dance you offstage.” He later also called the SS Rajamouli directorial a ‘Bollywood movie’.

Ooh… #Oscars just love controversies and conflicts. Referring to #RRR as a Bollywood film even after hearing that the creators are promoting it as an Indian film for months.

Who in their right mind find @jimmykimmel funny? He is so ignorant that he thinks every Indian movie is bollywood. His jokes are cringey and all over the place. Worst host ever. @chrisrock you are being missed. Congrats team RRR!! #AcademyAwards2023 #NaatuNaatuSong
