Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalyan Singh’s tribute ceremony images have created a controversy because of the way a section of the national flag was covered up by the saffron party’s flagany senior leaders of the party attended the ceremony and didn’t seem to care on how the saffron flag was keptover the Indian tricolour and this triggered many other politicians of the country.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Passed Away
Singh, who was chief minister of Uttar Pradesh when the Babri Masjid was demolished in December 1992, passed away on Saturday. The photo, which the BJP’s official Twitter handle had shared, shows Singh’s body draped with the national flag. A little less than half of the national flag, however, cannot be seen because the BJP flag has been placed on top of it.
Images show that BJP president JP Nadda attended the ceremony and even PM Modi came to pay the final tribute while during his arrival the body was covered with just the National flag only.
Opposition Leaders Triggered On BJP
Several opposition leaders and others commented on the photos on social media, saying that the BJP was favouring the party over the nation – an allegation they have levelled in the past as well.
Pointing out at the hypocrisy of BJP leaders opposition thrashed with tweets and comments,“India will not tolerate the insult to the national flag,” the Indian Youth Congress tweeted in Hindi. IYC leader Srinivas B.V. questioned the act. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari said that the BJP has a long history of placing the party above the nation.

As one who had to fight a court case for four years merely for placing my hand on my heart during the singing of the National Anthem (rather than standing stiffly to attention),I think the nation should be told how the ruling party feels about this insult: https://t.co/F4nO2wKOOz

Knowing Late Kalyan Singh ji as well as I did, he would have detested placing party flag over the National Flag. Someone really messed it up here…..and others allowed it to continue. pic.twitter.com/4mzvl0Kltr

Indeed not at all a healthy gesture from the BJP side as our Indian flag certainly holds a higher value and it restricts misuse of the National symbol in many ways.Unlike other National flag;Indian tricolor has always been placed at the highest points of prestige and National sentiments.
