COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the city. As per the latest development, the total number of containment zones in the city has shot up to 238.
South Bengaluru has the maximum cases
BBMO has revealed that in the city, the south zones have more cases than the other zones. The total number of containment zones in the city, as of now, is 238. As of June 13, the city had a total of 113 containment zones.
BBMP said: “Following detection of fresh COVID cases in new localities across the city, more areas have been declared as containment zones taking their total to 238.”
A sharp rise in the last few days
In the last seven days alone, more than 100 containment zones have been added to the city. The total number now stands at 238. While 40 zones have returned to normal, the ‘containment zone’ status has been extended in 8 regions.
BBMP also provided the exact numbers regarding COVID-19 cases in the state, and the city. While Karnataka has a total of 8281 cases, Bengaluru stands with 989 cases. Out of the 989 cases, 378 have recovered while 59 have succumbed to the virus. In Bengaluru, the South Zone has the maximum active cases. 63 cases are active in this region. It is followed by the East Zone, which has 44 cases.
Well, with cases rising every day, it needs to be seen how the Government would tackle the situation. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has already said that there would be no further imposition of the lockdown. Meanwhile, he also said that he has requested PM Modi for further relaxations in the state to boost the economy.
