Opposition Slams Kejriwal for Hospital Decision
The statement by the Delhi Chief Minister has not gone down well with his political peers. The Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati has slammed the Kejriwal-led government for its decision. She said,
“Delhi is the national capital and people from all across the country come here for various reasons. If an outsider falls sick in Delhi, he will be denied treatment saying he is not a local resident. This is very unfortunate. The center should intervene in this decision.”
The opposition parties in Delhi, BJP and Congress, have also condemned the leader. The Delhi Congress President Anil Kumar said,
“Kejriwal should tell if his government will deny treatment to a large number of people from other states, especially from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, who live in Delhi but do not have any identity or address proof.”
Delhi is the third worst-hit state in the country with 28,936 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of which 10,999 have recovered and 17,125 still active. The death toll in Delhi is at 812.
