Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt has hit the screens. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial has been a much awaited film since the last couple of months. The film is based on the life on famously infamous lady don of Mumbai, Gangubai Kathiawadi. Set in the early seventies, it focuses on Gangu’s rise to power from the streets of Kamathipura as a sex worker. This film is based on the non-fiction book written by Hussain Zaidi. Gangubai Kathiawadi premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2022.
The film post its release has garnered much appreciation by the netizens while some have been calling out the same.
