Chhanga Lal lost his wife years ago. Of the two children he had, one of them is no more and the other is paralysed. With no one to help Chhanga Lal was forced to make living by selling bhelpuri on the streets.

Despite being hard of hearing and suffering from poor health owing to old age, he wakes up every morning in the wee hours, and pushes his cart around till about mid-afternoon hoping to sell some Bhelpuri. He charges a mere Rs 5 for a plate of bhelpuri.

Amid the ongoing pandemic, there have been several warnings for those above the age of 60 stepping out, but for people like Chhanga Lal, there’s simply no choice.

The pandemic has also posed a massive challenge in Chhanga Lal’s life. Speaking to Indiatimes Baba said, “Only god knows how I managed to survive in this pandemic. In the lockdown we got ration once or twice while there was no financial help.”

He lives in rented accommodation and has to pay Rs 1,200 every month. But despite his hardship, his hopes are up and knows that crisis will be averted. If you wish to lend a helping hand, here are his details.
