Actor Irrfan Khan breathed his last at a private hospital in Mumbai today. The actor was 53. He is survived by his wife Sutapa and two sons. The actor’s last film was ‘Angrezi Medium’, which had released a few days before the lockdown.
The actor had battled a tumor
In 2018, the ‘Piku’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor had been diagnosed with a tumor. He was treated for the same in London and only returned to Mumbai a few months ago.
On Tuesday, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital with a colon infection. The actor’s spokesperson had confirmed that Irrfan had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital.
The spokesperson of the actor had revealed a statement: “Yes, it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctor’s observation. His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure with his tremendous willpower and prayers of his well-wishers, he will recover soon.“
On Saturday, Irrfan’s 95-year-old mother had passed away in Jaipur. Irrfan could not attend due to the lockdown norms. He had paid his last respects through a video conferencing session.

Irfan Khan was a middle class aspiration. A normal looking man, with his strength, became a strong brand in the world of cinema on his own. What a misfortune Irrfan Khan who could have given the most detail about acting has left us so early RIP #IrrfanKhan pic.twitter.com/m9EkeUnjp2
