Aamir Khan recently opened up about his life and spoke about the phase when he struggled with alcoholism. The actor talked about how he used to drink an entire alcohol bottle at one go. And later also explained how he quit drinking.
Aamir’s Alcohol addiction
As the actor recently celebrated his 57th birthday, during an interview, he revealed the time when he could gulp down an entire bottle of alcohol in one sitting. Aamir Khan said that he used to drink on occasions, but whenever he did, it was too much.
He later described how it spoiled his health and decided to quit drinking. “I want to give you good news. I used to drink sometimes, but I have decided not to touch alcohol ever in my life. Some people take two pegs and they are sorted. But I was never one of those who drank regularly. I used to drink on occasions, but whenever I did sit down to drink, I would finish an entire bottle. I felt that was not okay.”
Why did he quit drinking?
Aamir also spoke about the importance of self-control, “When you are drunk, you do or say certain things which you regret later ‘How could I say or do this. Not that anything major has happened like that until now, but the fact that a person is no longer under their control, that didn’t sit well with me. Anything that doesn’t help you be in your control, you should stay away from that. Everything should be under your control. I don’t think I can control alcohol. So it’s better that I quit drinking.”
He further spoke about introspection. He said, “I don’t fear introspection. If I think there is a flaw, I would want to spot that, understand it and correct it… All those who I love and who love me, including you, the audience, everyone has their space. I aim to give time to everyone, nurture every relationship, make it better.”
