Laal Singh Chaddha like Mr. Bean show?
The box of chocolate gets replaced by a box of Golgapas. An official adaptation of Forrest Gump (1994) starring Tom Hanks, Laal Singh Chaddha is a film that doesn’t say anything significantly different. It’s a Hindi remake of an iconic Hollywood film and that’s the only attribute. It doesn’t even try to introduce elements that would make it look somewhat different from Robert Zemeckis’ film.
It’s inappropriate to compare Laal Singh Chaddha with Forrest Gump. Rather, Aamir’s acting can be compared to Rowan Atkinson’s Mr. Bean, says a popular media channel Film Companion.
“Laal Singh Chaddha rests upon Khan’s shoulders and despite their muscular bulk, the actor can’t hold up the film the way Tom Hanks did in Forrest Gump. In the original, Forrest is declared “stupid” and “below average”, but Hanks’s performance underscores that Forrest is what you’d want a ‘normal’ person to be like. Forrest stands out for his kindness and courage, and his quirks feel endearing rather than strange. Khan, in contrast, looks unhinged. Everything from the vocal tics to the overwrought acting makes his Laal seem weird. He’s more Mr. Bean than Forrest Gump,” quoted Film Companion.
LSC struggles
As the movie hits the theatres today, Laal Singh Chaddha has struggled to increase its advance ticket sales during the last five days since the start of advance booking.
Notably, only hours after the Aamir Khan starrer hit the theatre, popular film critic Taran Adarsh Today, put out a strongly worded tweet wherein he reviewed the latest Aamir Khan release in one word. “Disappoints,” Tweeted Taran Aadarsh giving the movie a two-star rating.

Laal Singh Chaddha is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios. It also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Chaitanya Akkineni. It is an official remake of Forrest Gump.
