Marking as one of the best contenders for this years’ ICC World Cup trophy, Kohli and Co carried billions of hopes on their shoulders for the greatest cricketing event. But, unfortunately, the men in blue were crashed out of the tournament, leaving billions of hearts broken.
However, there was a shocking incident reported while team India lost its match against the Blackaps. A cycle shop owner from Kolkata collapsed in his shop immediately after MS Dhoni was declared run out on Wednesday during India vs New Zealand clash.
Fan dies due to heart attack
A Cycle shop owner named Srikanta Maity, aged 33 was watching the match on his smartphone, collapsed on the floor and died. It is said that he got a heart attack immediately after he saw MS Dhoni run out on Wednesday.
“We rushed to his help on hearing a loud thud. We saw him lying unconscious on the floor. We took him to Khanakul hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” said Sachin Ghosh, a sweet shop owner in the area.
A similar incident in Bihar
A similar incident took place in Bihar’s Kishanganj where a man died of a heart attack while watching India vs New Zealand semifinal on Wednesday. He was identified as Ashok Paswan and is reported to have suffered a stroke when MS Dhoni got run out of a stunning direct hit from Martin Guptill in the 49th over.
Paswan was soon rushed to a nearby hospital by his family, where he took his last breath before the hospital declared him dead.
With a crazy cricket fan base in India, yesterday was more than a nightmare for everyone. Team India’s crashing out of the tournament broke billions of hearts as the fans expected their team to lift the trophy and bring back home what was taken away from them back in 2015.
