A 19-year-old girl now being identified as Amulya Leona has been charged with sedition as she urged a full crowd to repeat her slogan which was “Pakistan Zindabad”. She was speaking at an event organized under the banner of “Save Constitution”.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi who was also at the event distanced himself and his party AIMIM from these slogans and put out a statement that said, “We, in no way, support our enemy nation Pakistan.”
Event organizers and people from AIMIM rushed to stop Amulya Leona from repeating the slogan and tried to take the microphone away from her.
In a Facebook post last week, Amulya had praised all the neighboring countries, including Pakistan. “Long Live India! Long Live Pakistan! Long Live Bangladesh! Long Live Sri Lanka! Long live Nepal! Long live Afghanistan! Long Live China! Long Live Bhutan!,”. Amulya is doing an undergraduate course at a Bengaluru college and is also working at a local translation company in the city.
BS Yeddyurappa also gave a statement on the whole ordeal and accused Leona of being linked to the Naxals. He said, “She must be punished and action will be taken against the people behind it.”
Amulya’s father is also extremely upset and distressed about the whole event. Her father is from Koppa, Chickmagalur and upon being asked about his daughter’s conduct, he said, “Let her rot in jail and let the police break her bones. I have asked her several times not to speak like this but she does not listen. She has caused so much misery to me and my family!”
Leona is now in 14-day custody at the police and has been charged with sedition.
