Kannada cinema’s veteran actor Anant Nag recently slammed Bollywood and team Pathaan for hurting people’s sentiments. Asked the Indian Censor board to take serious action against the film.
Anant Nag slams SRK and Deepika
Kannada film industry’s legendary and veteran actor Anant Nag who has appeared in more than 270 films is a gem for the people of Karnataka. He has spent over 5 decades in the field of acting and film producing and has brought a good name to the Sandalwood industry.
He has also worked in cinemas outside the state and has delivered some memorable films in Bollywood too. Nevertheless, the 74-year-old was recently asked about the ongoing controversy with Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathaan.
He was asked to speak about the recent dispute that is happening around Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini appearance in the song ‘Besharam Rang’.
The controversial bikini outfit
Responding to the question, Anant Nag criticized top Bollywood filmmakers for showing women in a shameless way.
“Showing women in such a way isn’t part of our Indian culture. If the censor team had done their job, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place,” said Anant Nag.
“Forget movies, look at OTT content, they show all sorts of nasty and offensive stuff. Everything (nudity) is openly shown and no one is there to stop them. They say that science has progressed so they show such things on the platform.”
Further, the veteran actor advised the Indian Censor board (Central Board of Film Certification) to take action against such content.
“The Indian Cinema should stop such nudity content on big and small screens. Showing things against our culture and tradition will definitely cause conflicts among the people,” he concludes.
Several scenes trimmed in Pathaan
SRK and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan has made headlines for many reasons. After the release of their first song, Besharam Rang, the film stirred controversy after a section of the audience raised concerns over Deepika’s orange bikini in the song. As per reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested numerous cuts to the movie. However, Deepika’s much-controversial orange outfit will continue to be a part of the action film.
After numerous cuts, Pathaan received more than 10 cuts including trimming some of the sensual moves in the song. Some of the dialogues edited apparently include Langde Lulle to Toote Foote, Ashok Chakra to Veer Puraskar, ex-KGB with ex-SBU, and Mrs. Bharatmata with Hamari Bharatmata. However, the song and the outfit remain unchanged. A few revisions to the shots have been advised but overall, the outfit gets a pass from CBFC.
