His iconic movie Gangs of Wasseypur marked a new era in Bollywood movies. Even after his efforts and disputes, the filmmaker has always spoken about what’s wrong with the industry and films. “The 50-year-old said that the new pan-India trend, the scenario is similar, everybody is trying to make a pan-India movie, but the total success will be only 5-10%. Films like Kantara and Pushpa encourage people to bring forward their own stories. But anyone trying to mimic a movie like KGF 2 and its huge success is headed toward disaster. Bollywood destroyed itself riding this bandwagon,” he said adding that filmmakers have to find films that give them courage.
