The makers of Saif Ali Khan and Prabhas starrer Adipurush have postponed the film’s release, which was earlier slated to be released on January 12, 2023.
New date for Adipurush
Social media has been abuzz with rumors that Prabhas starrer mythological action film, whose teaser was launched on October 2 on Ayodhya, will skip the earlier locked January 12, 2023 release date and will now hit the big screens at a later time. The news, if true, will be a letdown for Prabhas fans as they have been waiting eagerly for the film to release. The movie features Prabhas as Lord Ram. Adipurush is a modern-day adaptation of Ramayana.
According to the Times of India, Adipurush is pushed to a Summer 2023 release in order to avoid a clash with South films such as Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veeraya, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, Mammootty’s Agent, Ajith’s Thunivu and Vijay starrer Varisu, which will release during the festival of Sankrant in 2023. The makers will soon announce the new release date.

All about the film
Adipurush narrates the Ramayan from a different light. While Prabhas plays the role of Ram, Kriti essays the role of Sita. Saif has been roped in to play the role of Raavan while Sunny Singh essays the role of Lakshman. Adipurush is considered the biggest film in Prabhas’ career. It is a mythological drama that has been made on a budget of Rs 300 crore. The film is jointly bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar’s T-series and Retrophiles.
Earlier, when the Adipurush teaser was launched, many fans were unhappy with the VFX of the film and compared it to an ‘animation film’. Director Om Raut also reacted to the trolling the film’s first footage had received. Additionally, the dresses and look of Hindu deities as seen in the teaser also received criticism.
Om later said he is “disheartened” by the reaction to the Adipurush teaser. “I was disheartened but not surprised because the film is made for a larger medium. You can cut it down to some extent, but can’t bring it down to a mobile phone, that’s an environment I can’t control,” he said.
