SIIMA Awards 2022: Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar, Allu Arjun, Kamal Haasan, And Among Other Won Awards

The 10th South Indian International Movie Awards aka SIIMA 2022 took place in Bengaluru on September 10. The award show was filled with stars and celebrities. From stars of the south film industries to even some Bollywood names – it was a glitzy experience. But the man who stole the evening with their red carpet look was Yash, Ranveer Singh, and Allu Arjun.

Post-pandemic, ‘KGF 2’ has been the only film that has changed the dynamics with its outstanding collection at the box office. When film industry biggies were struggling to provide content that had a mass appeal, Yash gave the audience a massive blockbuster that is making headlines even today. His magic at the box office changed the course of the Indian Film Industry along with making a massive shift in the Kannada film industry.

At the SIIMA 2022 award show, KGF star Yash appeared in a white blazer but gave it a desi look. Accompanied by wife Radhika Pandit, the Kannada superstar wore a white blazer, a white opened-buttoned kurta, and pajama-formal-looking white pants. Yash styled the look with brown suede shoes, a watch, and a silver chain.

The Star-Studded Event

Boosting the glamour of the tenth edition of SIIMA, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh too marked his presence at the event along with some of the biggest stars of Telugu and Kannada cinema including Allu Arjun, Yash, Vijay Deverakonda, and Tamil star Kamal Haasan.

The late actor Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar also won an award at the event. A tweet by SIIMA read, “When Late Puneeth Rajkumar ascended to heaven, the Kannada film industry lost one of its most valuable stars. SIIMA is humbled to present him with the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Kannada) for the movie Yuvarathnaa. We thank the Yuvarathnaa team for accepting it on his behalf.”

For her film Badava Rascal, Amrutha Iyengar bagged the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role – Critics (Kannada), while the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role – Popular Category (Kannada) went to Ashika Ranganath for the movie Madhagaja.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh was presented with the Most Loved Hindi Actor in South India award. Pushpa: The Rise dominated the awards night by winning the most prestigious Best Director and Best Actor award which was presented to Arya Sukku and Allu Arjun respectively. As for the Best Actress award, while there were rumors that Rashmika Mandanna will be receiving it, it was later given to Pooja Hegde for the Akhil Akkineni starrer Most Eligible Bachelor. Kamal Haasan won the Lifetime Achievement Award post the massive success of Vikram.

There were also other award winners that included Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari for winning the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award (Telugu) for the movie Pushpa – The Rise, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar bagging the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Award (Telugu) for the movie Krack, actor Pramod winning the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Kannada) Award for his role in Rathnan Prapancha, among others.
