Ranbir Kapoor in his recent interaction with the audience spoke about why his film is worthy enough to be compared with Marvel. He said, “It’s deeply rooted in Indian culture, and we had the opportunity to create our own Marvel, which Ayan Mukerji (director) is trying to do with his Astraverse. Any film, any good, compelling story, made in your culture, authentically, in its true form, will connect to a large audience.”

“There is a little luck to it – like what kind of release you get, what kind of exposure you get. And in our case, we have Disney. And there’s nothing better than that. So, I believe that Brahmastra is in a great place where we have that opportunity, where a world audience can witness it,” he adds.

Director’s views

Speaking about the comparison with Marvel, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji said, “VFX was actually one of the foundation things we had to attack in making this film. From the beginning, it was so challenging and risky that once the shoot was completed and the visuals came together I couldn’t believe the film was done. While making the film I often use to remember my filmmaking Guru S. S. Rajamouli and James Cameron. I thought while making Brahmastra that I was young Steven Spielberg or young James Cameron. I wanted to do something very big like them.”

Ranbir however clarified that Brahmastra cannot be compared with any film, he even said that this is not like a Marvel film and claimed it is a very original genre and cannot be compared with any film.

The film has Ranbir Kapoor essaying the role of Shiva and Alia Bhatt the part of Isha. Besides Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni, the film also features Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role.
