Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s Liger is finally in theatres. Even though it was one of the most-awaited movies of the year, looks like it has left fans disappointed. Here’s what Film critic Taran Adarsh has to say about the film.

There were a lot of expectations from the movies and especially looking at the back-to-back flops, Hindi cinema desperately needs a blockbuster. But, despite having a lot of hype for the film, looks like it has left fans disappointed.

The film managed to have a wide release as it opened to shows as early as 4 am in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Despite riding on great pre-release hype, Liger failed to get favorable reviews from fans and experts.

Trade analyst review

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has called this film to be Outdated. In a Tweet, giving his review on Liger, the trade analyst wrote, Rating: 1 ½ #Liger fails to meet the expectations… An absolute waste of talent, resources, and opportunity… #VijayDeverakonda deserved a better launch in #Hindi movies… This #Liger just doesn’t roar! #LigerReview”

Another expert writes, “Of late, I have been trying to be as diplomatic as possible while communicating my disappointment in a film because of the sheer hardwork that is poured in. But films like #Liger are harsh reminders that not all end products deserve your respect. Pathetic film. Utter crap.”

Meanwhile, Liger is produced by Karan Johar and also stars Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, and Ronit Roy. It was promoted extensively as a pan-India film. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil versions of Liger were released on August 25. The Hindi version releases in theatres on Friday.
