KGF: Chapter 2 has surpassed the collection of Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast in Tamil Nadu. With this, Yash starrer has now become the first Sandalwood film to surpass a Kollywood film at the Tamil Nadu box office.

KGF 2 craze is catching up in a big way in all its places of release. The film has been released to a blockbuster talk in no time and has made the fans super satisfied. Now, the latest update says the movie has become the first Sandalwood film to surpass a Kollywood film at the Tamil Nadu box office while both films were released at the same time.
Sharing details, Trade Analyst Manobala Vijayabalan wrote, “HISTORY created at TN Box Office. #KGFChapter2 with ₹64.04 cr in 8 days BEATS #BeastMovie [₹61.17 cr] 9 days run. For the first time, a Sandalwood movie has gone past Kollywood movie while running together in TN BO.”

KGF 2 wave in Tamil Nadu
While Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast hit the theatres on April 13, KGF: Chapter 2 was released a day later, on April 14, on Tamil New Year. This gave a small edge to Beast as it had a five-day opening weekend. While the opening weekend collections were fine, Beast started to slow down after the weekdays.
The more saddening part is that Beast is losing screens to KGF2. More screens are being added for the Yash film in Tamil Nadu.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and is produced by Sun Pictures. The film was a hostage thriller with Vijay playing the role of RAW agent Veeraraghavan. The film also starred Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, and Shine Tom Chacko in significant roles.
KGF: Chapter 2 is directed by Prashanth Neel. Produced under the Hombale Films banner. The film features Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles.
