Expressing her happiness she also said that; “Film is a visual medium and people connect to it faster. A story about a small-town girl winning in the Olympics will be an inspiration to our youth, especially girls and it’ll be a shame if an actor of another ethnicity plays it in today’s day and age. Inclusivity is a big thing across the world and about time we as a country practice it as well.”

Lin Laishram belongs to that underrated class of Bollywood who gained popularity without any godfathers in the industry. She has been working in the industry for almost a decade and came to limelight with the 2014 biopic of Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the titular role of a boxer.Lin essayed the role of Bem-Bem, a friend of Mary Kom.

According to Lin, a director for not just Mirabai, but any biopic has to be someone who understands both intrinsic and extrinsic factors of the story and the person on whom the film is based.

Sharing an authentic narrative not only requires good casting but also a filmmaker who can breathe life into the story. If a girl from Manipur can make her country proud then why can’t the country’s biggest entertainment industry make Manipur proud by right casting. Manipur might be a small state; but has enormous talents who are just deprived of the right opportunities..
