Earlier today, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao issued a joint statement, announcing that they are going ahead with separation. They revealed that they had been planning for separation for a while now, and at the moment, they seem comfortable making formal arrangements for the same. The duo has also decided to co-parent their son Azad Khan.

In 1986, Aamir Khan entered wedlock with Reena Dutta, who played a small role in the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. They had two children, named Ira and Junaid. However, in 2002, Reena and Aamir filed for a divorce.
Kiran Rao was an assistant to director Ashutosh Gowariker, who collaborated with Aamir for Lagaan. It is on the sets of the movie that Aamir and Kiran met for the first time. In 2005, they got married. They have a son named Azad Rao Khan.
The duo to file for a divorce
In a joint statement that was issued on July 3rd, 2021, Aamir and Kiran have made public their decision to separate. However, they would co-parent Azad together.
As mentioned in the statement, the duo will continue maintaining a professional relationship as well. The statement says, ” We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about.“

Fatima Sana Shaikh starts trending on Twitter
As soon as Aamir and Kiran’s divorce news came out, Fatima Sana Shaikh also started trending on Twitter. For those who are not aware of the context, a couple of years ago, there were rumours that Aamir and Fatima were a couple. They met on the sets of Dangal and later also worked in Thugs of Hindostan.
