In an unexpected reaction from a minister in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan was stopped from shooting her upcoming film.
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is currently shooting her first film post the novel coronavirus lockdown in Madhya Pradesh. For the past few weeks, the shooting of the film Sherni has been commencing in a forest area in the state. It was recently stopped after Vidya Balan refused to have dinner with a state minister.
As per the reports, many vehicles belonging to the production department of the film was stopped from entering the forest area where they had been shooting for weeks. Allegedly, this is because the actress turned down a dinner invitation of the foreign minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh Vijay Shah. The vehicles were stopped by the district forest officer of Balaghat. When he spoke to the media, he said only two vehicles were allowed to enter the forest area.
Minister Switches The Story
When the press contacted Vijay Shah for comments, he refuted the allegation and said that it was he who refused to have dinner with the actress and not the other way around. He was quoted by ANI saying,
“I was there (Balaghat) on request from those who took permission for the shoot and requested me for lunch or dinner. I said not possible now, I will meet them when I go to Maharashtra. Lunch or dinner was canceled, the shoot wasn’t.”
This was the second time the shoot of the film was halted. Earlier this month, the shoot was halted because of another actor Vijay Raaz who was accused of harassing a woman on the sets of the film. The woman filed a complaint after which the actor was arrested and later granted bail. Post the incident, Vijay Raaz is believed to have left for Mumbai and has never returned to complete the shoot.
