Mumbai Crime Branch Rescues 3 Actresses From A Sex Racket In A 5-Star Hotel

On Saturday, the Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that it has busted a prostitution racket and is believed to have arrested a smalltime film actor. The Crime Branch has also rescued three women who have also acted in television daily soaps.

Unit XII of the Mumbai Crime Branch was tipped about a racket involving struggling actors and belly dancers after which the unit went on with its investigation. Under the investigation, the unit sent a decoy customer towards the dealer for three women with a fee of Rs. 10.50 lakh. Post that, a team led by the senior Inspector Mahesh Tawade raided a five-star hotel in the Goregoan area of Mumbai and made the arrests.

Victims Sent For Rehabilitation

The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case under the sections of the Indian Penal Code and the prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The Vanrai police station is conducting a further probe as per the official. Mahesh Tawade said,

“The dummy customer told her that some guests were coming to Mumbai and she could provide girls. The accused claimed that she had top-rated women and she would charge Rs. 10.5 lakh for sending them to a five-star hotel. When she accepted the money, our team nabbed her and rescued the three women.”

The three victims who were rescued have been sent for rehabilitation and the pimp, Manisha, has been arrested under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. During the investigation, it was revealed to the police that she had kept Rs. 4 lakh for herself and had promised to get a TV actress but later said she couldn’t due to some personal reasons.

Back in the month of January, the Mumbai police had arrested a casting director for his involvement in a similar sex racket. In the operation, the police rescued a make-up artist and a junior actor.
