Ever since Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut mentioned in one her tweets that about 99 per cent of people from the film industry consume drugs, it has created a furor among celebs and netizens alike. Multiple debates arising on why Bollywood is the only industry that is being targetted for drugs amid others have been cropping up.
The topic on the usage of drugs gained momentum after Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakroborty’s name cropped up for the same issue in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. One of the veterans of the film industry, Javed Akhtar has now spoken about the alleged usage of drugs in the film industry and labelled it as ‘malice of the society’.
“As far as the drugs are concerned, it is the malice of the society. I have only heard and I have not seen any drug with my own eyes. But I have heard young people tend to use drugs, but that is not just in the film industry, it is the current malice of society. That should be looked into,” shared Akhtar, in an interview with Hindustan Times. Further adding that he doesn’t know what is ‘illegal and legal’.
Along with drug usage, is the ongoing debate on nepotism, about which, Kangana has been taking stands. Sharing his thoughts on nepotism in the industry, Javed Akhtar shared with the same portal that he feels ‘inheritance’ is being confused with ‘nepotism’. He also mentioned that someone who is born in a film family surely has a ‘foot in the door’ but that is not everything.
Many a time, several star kids have also mentioned that getting work and opportunities become easier on being born in a film family, however, their success doesn’t depend on it.
