Mumbai’s Session Court has rejected actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik’s bail plea. Also, pleas of all other accused in the drugs angle in connection to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case have been rejected.

After Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the alleged drug case, the internet was divided. While a part of the society saw this as a move towards getting justice for Sushant Singh Rajput, the other part slammed it and stood by Rhea, proclaiming that her arrest has nothing to do with the primary charges of the death case.

After a league of celebs started trending #JusticeforRhea on social media, they also posted a powerful message on patriarchy that was written on the actress’ T-shirt when she left for the NCB office yesterday. Standing by her, Swara Bhasker has opened up about the investigation and feels that agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must focus on the more ‘serious cases.’

ED is probing Rhea in the money laundering angle of the case while the CBI is investigating the charge on of abetment to suicide against the actress. Swara feels that Rhea has been ‘subjected’ to an absolutely ‘horrifying’ reality.

“As a young person from that industry, it is very relatable and very scary that social media allegations and rantings of one or two blue-tick verified accounts on social media could actually lead to a person getting caught and being accused of such serious crimes,” she said.

She added that instead of “this young woman,” there are people who should be bringing back Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi and the ED and CBI should be probing “really serious cases.” “What has happened to Rhea is shameful and shocking,” she continued.

NCB, which is looking at the drug angle of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, has taken Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda and his cook Dipesh apart from 4 drug peddlers. Rhea and Showik’s bail plea will be heard at Special Court in Mumbai on Thursday, September 10.
