In a rare sight, Pakistani’s in London was seen singing the Indian national song along with Indians. The group had gathered outside the Chinese embassy in London and staged a protest holding hands.
Arif Aajakia, a Pakistani human rights activist who believes to call out the bitter and naked truth about his country stood outside the Chinese embassy and shouted ‘boycott China’ and ‘down with China’. He was standing with several Indian diaspora groups. He said,
“Today was also the first time in my life that I sang Vande Mataram.”
Accompanying him was Amjad Ayub Mirza, who comes from Mirpur of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir, and some others from Karachi and Iran. The common factor binding them is their united feeling of disappointment with China. Mirza who has been vocal against the oppression in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir said,
“I have traveled all the way from Glasgow for this protest. I am from PoK, an Indian living under Pakistani occupation. The Chinese are wreaking havoc across Gilgit-Baltistan through CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) and the Pakistani government continues to work for hand in glove with them.”
Growing Hate Against China
Indians have organized similar protests against China in different countries like the United States and Canada. In London, they carried posters and placards against the Chinese President Xi Jinping. There has been growing outrage against China in London. On Saturday night, an image that read ‘Free Tiber, Free Hong Kong, Free Uyghurs’ was projected onto the Chinese embassy building in central London.
The United States too have sanctioned the Chinese government and the officials of the government with serious concerns over human right violations against the ethnic group Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province and the crackdown against Hong Kong’s people. The hate has been growing with the Indian government banning 59 Chinese applications and the increasing demand to boycott Chinese products by the Indian citizens after the People’s Liberation Army killed 20 Indian jawans in the Galwan valley of Ladakh.
