The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is set to launch an application that would let the people know about the availability of beds in hospitals. The application will also be able to identify the areas where patients are located.
In the past two weeks, the city of Bengaluru has seen two tragic incidents where patients breathed their last before getting the treatment as many private hospitals refused to admit them. The launch of the application comes in the wake of these two incidents. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike War Room has been discussing the new identifying system for the past four days. The head of the War Room, Hepshiba, said,
“Over the last three to four days, we were in the process of getting all the updates from hospitals to implement the plan. We have an index application to make the process flow simple. Whatever new scenario arises, we want to be able to identify the problem and tools available to ensure smooth implementation. We are developing an application based on AI (artificial intelligence) for this.”
The new application will first be able to detect the zone where the patient lives and once the patient enters the required details, the app lets the patient know if they have to visit the hospital which will include private hospitals and COVID Care centers. Hepshiba further said,
“The BBMP Commissioner has also directed all zonal-level officers to set up call centers for COVID-19 patients. The call center will be monitored by the BBMP War Room. These call centers will be able to identify the areas, ward, street, and direct people to the necessary hospital or COVID-19 Care Centre. In the application, people will be able to enter their details and also call the zonal call centers for queries.”
Application In Other Districts Soon
The application is set to launch on the 6th of July tentatively. There are efforts to bring similar applications in other districts. The application will also verify the list of COVID-19 patients with the ICMR database and allocate beds accordingly. A senior health official of the state said,
“We have the information about all hospitals, ambulances, and the database of patients. This will be a primary database along with call centers. There will be real-time allocation of beds in various facilities. People will also be able to find hospitals on the app. They will have both options of calling the center and using the app.”
